A heartbeat could mean a thousand things, some good and some bad. Jack didn't really care; he only cared that the boy remained seated, content to play a little longer.

Where was this gonna go, huh? Into the bathrooms? An alleyway? Into a stranger's bed?

Maybe the back of Jack's trunk, literally speaking?

Jack smirked. "Already? I haven't even started flirting with you yet," Jack teased. He brought the beer bottle up again, wrapping his lips around the head of it and taking another swig. After popping it out of his mouth again, his tongue darted out to catch one last hoppy drop of the stuff.

"But I'll take the compliment. Feels good-- you watching me, instead of the game."

the roomies!!! i originally designed this ososan oc trio in full about a year ago to write on an rp blog. it's not really active rn, but i still want to talk and post about 'em, so here they are! just basic rundowns, but i'd be curious to hear which one (if any) is your fav of the three (feel free to leave it in the tags?? if u want!)

anzu:

i wanted to use orange as a character colour bc it's one that wasn't already used in the matsu rainbow, and i had a concept of a gyaru character named anzu kicking around in my head for a long time as well, so here we are. miwa from the mixer ep inspired the eyeshadow (orange rather than miwa's blue obv, to keep with her colour theme) and delinquent totoko's design inspired her ombre dyejob! i went with a blonde-to-orange look as a nod to anzu's namesake fruit (apricot).

the strands framing her face are split into 3 sections at the end (2/3 are grouped together and 1/3 flips in the other direction) which is a little nod to her being one of 3 siblings (eldest), as well as the "三" character used in her surname (mikado) meaning 3. the rest of her hairstyle is just because i thought it looked cute, though.

ososan's style is more simplified, but i wanted to convey makeup that was a little bold, but cute (long false lashes, eyeshadow, & and a soft pink or nude glossy lip). clothing-wise, she mixes and matches a few different substyles (agejo and onee are prominent, with some ane, tsuyome, and general old school gal influences as well?), with a particular fondness for animal prints, esp. tiger print. (that said, orange tiger print doesn't seem all that common in gyaru clothes, so in-universe i like to think that the top pictured above was originally a black-and-white zebra(?) stripe print she thrifted and dyed at home--close enough!)

her nails day to day are usually medium length since she has a lot of hobbies that involve her hands and anything longer makes those things a bit more cumbersome. sometimes they're decoden/bedazzled, sometimes they're just painted a cute colour/pattern, depends on the day! and i think she opts for press-ons over extensions for longer nails, since it's cheaper.

ran:

i'm just a bitch who loves purple, that's the reason for this one. i think the hime cut with shorter bangs is nice because you can showcase the eyebrows (i think eyebrows can really elevate a character design so i gave all 3 their own brow shape) without worrying about the lines for the eyebrows and bangs intersecting in an annoying way when you draw it. i like shorter, slightly sharp eyebrows like these because they're easy to draw, lol. i think they're usually furrowed like she's displeased with something, but that may just be her resting face. i also thought this blunter, sharper-looking cut (bold, standoffish) was a fun contrast to anzu's flippy half-updo (bright, bouncy) and yuzu's short, wavy hair (languid, relaxed).

5 piercings on each ear (2 spiked helix & 3 lobe) = 5 siblings including ran (4 older brothers). the other reason for this number of piercings was that her namesake flower (orchid) had--i thought--5 petals, but as it turns out i'm a fool, it's actually 3 petals (including the lip) and 3 sepals??? ah, well.

clothing-wise, influences from various punk/vkei styles alongside some rokku gyaru. (maybe anzu introduced her to this one?) this brash style is the total inverse of how she was expected to dress growing up. (when she and anzu first met, she was an OL with no piercings, undyed hair, and positively miserable, but that was a number of years ago now.) i'm really not reinventing the wheel with "small and angry", but y'know, we have fun here.

yuzu:

is teal distinct enough from blue to count as its own colour? i think so. for yuzu, i really loved the concept of a deadpan-looking character who is very much not the straightman, who in fact wants very badly to be the funnyman 99% of the time. that kind of straight-faced but silly comedic character is always really fun to me.

half-lidded/heavy-lidded eyes paired with thick brows are always a winner to me fsr, and i wanted to give her a more "handsome" looking face with a bit more of a defined jaw than you typically see on women in ososan. as a treat. i wanted her to look a bit like a mysterious prettyboy, but she's not actually mysterious, she's just a space cadet. (and very straightforward about her thoughts and feelings, saying them with little fuss or thought.) expectation vs reality, people deciding what you're like based on their own perception vs what you're actually like, etc. etc.

i don't have anything deep to say about her hairstyle, but maybe that's how yuzu would like it, what you see is what you get. (again, eyebrows vs hair... let that eyebrow scar that i gave her for no reason shine.) as for clothing, she prefers things that are easy to move around in, so her style is the most "matsuno"-like (t-shirts, hoodies, basketball shorts, sweats, etc.). in particular, she likes shirts with phrases, usually in english, that are funny or almost make sense but not quite ("for background visual gags" and "for the english speakers in the audience").

Although, only Detective Toodles and Rodger will have a safe ending, but Glisten is definitely out of the question now. Hungry and sleepless detective fathers in anger are very scary.* ”I hear familiar voices!! Aww, my dear baby and attractive Detective.” * The door opened abruptly and gracefully, as if the mirror had entered his room and not the place of the attack. Its brilliance starts to hurt the eyes for a while, but after a couple of seconds its brightness in this room becomes familiar. By the look of it, he didn't know exactly what was going to happen here.* "Greetings to the ‘wall-kissing lover’ and.. Oh, and greetings to the little Detective Toodles, I see~” *Rodger could no longer control himself, and he had just been rattled by the strange nickname Glisten, which Lupa had heard before and which she did not want to hear in the future. Poor Rodger even had an eye twitching from embarrassment and from this guy's audacity. Someone will definitely not survive today. Rodger glanced slightly at the cheerful face of Toodles, who was pleased with this turn of the investigation. You have to control yourself. For her sake.* ”Are you investigating on a day like this? You're not resting at all, poor things.. I would help you, but after the sweets want to find something else delicious. The beautiful Glisten is too greedy for sweets, and I would be extremely grateful if such "offerings" were made to me every day.. Oh Rodger, I totally forgot to thank you for the cookies, you found them right when I di—..“

”ARE YOU IDIOT?!”

*Haha, you definitely won't get bored with them. What kind of self-control is being discussed if all the spoken words of the mirror exceed the boundaries. Realizing that he had crossed the line with his own words, Rodger began to speak more calmly so as not to frighten anyone in this room, especially his little girl. Although, Glisten already looks like he's about to be led to execution. However, this is not such a big lie.*

”I’am—”

”Having reviewed all the evidence and analyzed our joint activities, while finding the solution to the mystery, Detective Toodles, the investigation is officially closed. Thank you for your cooperation and help in catching the kidnapper, Detective. Now, the defendant will go to ‘correctional labor’, under MY supervision. He is fully responsible for the offense.” *Rodger, as if to say goodbye, patted Toodles on the head again. Maybe he would have winked if he had two eyes instead of one. His face immediately softened, which mostly meant that he was more amused by the situation than upset.. But someone has to play the evil Detective in this ‘game’, right? Lupa took the records from the table, went to Glisten, without even looking at his face, took him by the scruff of the neck and dragged him to the exit.* ”Toodles, help m—! mmmhm!” *The magnifying glass carefully covered the mirror's mouth so that it would not give a dramatic concert. Now, it's time to say one last thing.* ”Toodles, dear, I'll let you know later when Glisten can pay you damages for the cookies. It's not just that he boasted that ‘he can cook anything better than Cosmo’, now he's going to show us his culinary skills. Yes?!” ”mm..mmh..” ”And also.. If something happens.. a bad one, for example, or.. The investigation will go badly, you can always call me, even if I am.. busy. Also, be careful, if your gut tells you ‘dangerous,' it means it's not for nothing. Watch your feelings, they'll always protect you when I'm not around, Detective Toodles. ” * After finishing his speech, Rodger took the mirror ‘backstage’, leaving Toodles alone in the room. It seems like this is the end of one Toodles adventure and the beginning of a new one for Glistens, haha..*

"Rodger! Rodger! I found the records you asked me to search for! I actually found four of them." Toodles dashed over to Rodger, cradling the records in her arms and making sure not to drop them. She came to a halt right in front of him, excitedly lifting up the classical music records. "Is this what you were looking for, Dad?"

After making sure that everything was fine, Magnifier’s eye twisted into a smile, looking at the very music discs that he needed so much. Patting dear girl on the head.. that is, a Little detective, Rodger finally picked up the records and began to read out the name of the music to himself.*

” Beautiful specimens, Toodles! I knew that no one could do this better than you. That is, mm. ” *Rodger abruptly quieted down his joy, and began to speak extremely seriously, as if he were talking not to his daughter, but to an adult.* ”Your investigation has come to an end, Detective Toodles. Summing up results and observing some of your actions, I can say with confidence that you did extremely well! Therefore, as the head of the detective management department, I am ready to present you with an award for your help in finding things.” *Magnifier turns to the table to look at the plate of cookies he has set out. Rodger barely snatched the last batch of cookies for the day from Cosmo, so it was a really valuable reward for Toodles, in his opinion.* ” Here are the cook— … ”

*The plate was almost empty! Only small crumbs remained.. Someone brutally ate the cookies that Rodger carefully stored. The man's detective instincts abruptly turned on and he began to analyze the place of the attack with his eye. In less than a few seconds, he abruptly made a verdict.* ” It's definitely not Pebble. Also, the cookies were eaten very carefully, which proves that they were eaten by a more than well-mannered toon. The only thing I'm not sure about is why they were eaten.. with a fork. ”*Then Rodger abruptly remembers that there are still Toodles next to him. It seems that the man now looks very upset. It's just not clear anymore because of what: because of the fact that cookies were actually eaten under his nose, or because his child will not receive a reward.*

it's kind of weird to me that they didn't bother releasing sushi and tempura internationally at all but at the same time i'm kinda glad they didn't cuz like. yo-kai watch was financially failing in the west by the time 3 released. i feel like if they had released sushi and tempura the franchise would've completely tanked before we got sukiyaki which would've sucked. honestly if anything i feel like it's more surprising that we got all three versions of 2 instead of them just releasing psychic specters but tbf i think yo-kai watch was doing well in the west when 2 released. 2 is just inexplicably what killed the franchise despite being a masterpiece-

Got all excited last night bc i saw a post from a mod on the gta o subreddit abt the Halloween update being set to drop today around 5 AM (backed up by at least two gaming websites that had stories also stating the same start time and date)

Went in today ready for Halloween and uh. Nothing lol

Checked the actual Rockstar website and there's no mention of it, just that RDR o is getting a Halloween update this week

If i was a betting man I'd start a pool on how late in the month it'll be by the time the gta Halloween drops lmao

(also a pool on how likely it is the mod is lying; as they continue to insist they have access to all the usual Halloween stuff in GTA o today and that everyone who doesn't must not know how to restart their game to see if that changes anything, or maybe they didn't click play on GTA but a different game in their library? Which is insulting af, especially to the guy with the flare that shows he's at a level so high in the game that i frankly didn't know existed, who called them out and asked if maybe they didn't get confused and thought gta and rdr were both getting the update at the same time.
